Abstract. The article studies the issues of interregional and border political processes. The object of the research is Omsk region, by the example of which the cross-country relationship of Russia and Kazakhstan can be considered. The author analyzes the essence of the notion "border cooperation", the legal basis of the questions under consideration. The basic problems of political relations and economic ties of Omsk region and Kazakhstan are determined. The analysis of the foreign trade turnover of Omsk region is conducted, the prerequisites of improving interregional and border cooperation are revealed, and the direction of the further development of the integration mechanism of the border and interregional cooperation of Russia and Kazakhstan is characterized.
