KALMYK KHANATE IN ADMINISTRATIVE AND POLITICAL SYSTEM OF THE RUSSIAN EMPIRE (THE MIDDLE OF THE XVIII - THE MIDDLE OF THE XIX CENTURY)

Abstract. The article examines the final stage of administrative system formation in Volga Kalmykia. Relying on the analysis of the legislation of the Russian Empire the author explores the dynamics of the transformation of the traditional institutions of Kalmyk administration. The paper mentions the influence of the chief territory administration on the imperial government regional policy, describes the processes of the social and administrative-political assimilation of the region, the formation of administrative bodies closely approximated to all-imperial ones by the Volga Kalmyks.
