EVANGELICAL CHRISTIANS-BAPTISTS OF WESTERN SIBERIA IN THE PERIOD OF "STALINIST LIBERALIZATION" OF CHURCH LIFE

Abstract. The article on the basis of archival materials examines the state and activity of the communities of the Evangelical Christians-Baptists of Western Siberia in the period of the "Stalinist liberalization" of church life (the 1940s - the beginning of the 1950s). The paper reconstructs the interaction of the church members with the local authorities. The analysis indicates that many rites and regulations of the Evangelical Christians-Baptists were unacceptable for the Soviet state ideology. The author also touches on the problem of the interrelations of the parishioners within the communities.
