Tobolsk Complex Scientific Station of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences
Abstract. The article gives generalized data on the character and power of a cultural layer, the spread and dating of ancient deposits within the territory of Tobolsk. The observations of the specificity of the development of separate parts of the town lead to the thought about singling out two stratigraphic horizons in the cultural layer. Today the collected archeological materials allow getting an idea on the history of the early period of the town existence applying the materials of written sources and archeology in a complex.
