LEGAL STATUS OF DONETSK PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC AND LUHANSK PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC AS QUASI-STATE FORMATIONS IN POST-SOVIET SPACE

Abstract. This article deals with the problem of the legal status of Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) and Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR). The purpose of the research is to make an attempt to assess DPR and LPR from the perspective of quasi-state formations. The characteristic features of the phenomenon are studied. The idea that DPR and LPR are involved in political conflict in connection with the interests of the centers of political power and the state-emitter is grounded. As the key argument the author indicates the realization by these subjects of the nation’s right to self-determination despite the lack of international recognition.
