ICON-PAINTING HERITAGE OF CHEREPOVETS REGION AS A PART OF MUSEUM AND NON-MUSEUM COLLECTIONS

Abstract. In the article the results of the research of the iconographic composition of the icon-painting works of the XIV - the beginning of the XIX century originating from the territory of Cherepovets uyezd and that are a part of the collection of Cherepovets museum and the operating churches of Cherepovets district are presented for the first time. The author traces back the history of the formation of the icon-painting collection of the museum in Cherepovets, and specifies the iconographic priorities of the remained works. The results of the research can be used in the reconstruction of the iconographic decoration of the reviving churches.
