PSALMODY OF DUKHOBORS IN THE WRITTEN EVIDENCES OF THE XIX - THE BEGINNING OF THE XX CENTURY

Abstract. In the article the tradition of psalms performance by Dukhobors is described. The publications of the scientists and representatives of artistic intelligentsia of the XIX - the beginning of the XX century are used as material for the comparative-historical study of singing during praying. The aim is to interpret and summarize analytically the information contained therein and to establish its importance for modern researches. The identification of the scope of the issues raised by the authors allows revealing the characteristics of the psalmody tradition and their stable features.
