Abstract. The article examines the most popular theories of information society. The aim of the work is to reveal if information technologies - the leading factor of transition to a new type of society - make significant changes in the area of professional interactions. The authors come to the conclusion that new phenomena make the sphere of professional activity more mobile and open. Also the thesis is suggested that new contradictions - unequal access to information, generation gap - are consequence of changes.
