STATE-CHURCH RELATIONS AS TOOL OF POLITICAL PUBLIC RELATIONS (BY THE EXAMPLE OF THE RUSSIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH)

Abstract. The article considers the problem of the Russian Orthodox Church institution functioning in the context of the contemporary Russian political space. The analysis of current state-church relations in terms of the theory of Public Relations is undertaken, and it is conditioned by the specificity of super-communicative society and the nature of the current political regime in the country. The author not only states a need for the integrated vision of the role of the Russian Orthodox Church in the context of state PR, but also emphasizes the profound strategic importance of strengthening Church in society in order to preserve the existing paradigm of power relations in Russia.
