THE POLISH POLITICAL ELITES AND PROBLEM OF CREATION OF THE POLISH VOLUNTEER MILITARY UNITS IN RUSSIA IN THE SPRING OF 1917

Abstract. In the article the reaction of different segments of the Polish political elite to the issue of the formation of the Polish volunteer military units in Russia in the spring of 1917 is considered. The author analyzes the dynamics of the evolution of the positions of various political forces in Poland, shows the gradual revaluation of the Polish volunteer forces and embedding the latter in the conception of the formation, after the war, of the independent Polish state with its own armed forces, the core of which had to be exactly the volunteers from the Russian front.
