PROBLEMS OF CHOICE OF PATH OF DEVELOPMENT IN THE BULGARIAN INTELLECTUAL TRADITION OF THE 1920-1930S

Abstract. The article reveals the problems of intellectual discussions and debates in Bulgaria after the First World War. The author shows that the participants of these events were the Bulgarian intellectuals and cultural figures. Special attention is paid to the critical analysis of different theories and concepts of the historical development of Bulgaria, which were introduced after the First World War. Under the analysis are the eastern and western images in the Bulgarian identity. The paper shows that the Bulgarian intellectuals formulated the problem of the belonging of Bulgaria to the European western cultural space and context. The researcher believes that the Bulgarian authors in the period between the two world wars were not able to make a choice between different vectors of possible development.
