A. N. TCHEREPNIN’S PIANO CYCLES IN THE CONTEXT OF CULTURAL DIALOGUE BETWEEN RUSSIA AND FRANCE

Ruban Natal'ya Leonidovna
Nizhny Novgorod State Conservatory named after M. I. Glinka

Abstract. The article for the first time considers piano cycles by the Russian composer of the XX century Alexander Nikolayevich Tcherepnin, which were written in the Parisian period of his creative activity from 1921 till 1934. The choice of the material is conditioned by the fact that these very cycles clearly represent the individual style of the Russian emigre community representative. The paper focuses on analyzing the mentioned compositions in the context of artistic dialogue between Russian and French cultural traditions. The author’s analytical observations are supplemented by the performer’s commentaries.
