Abstract. The article examines the history of creation and usage of legendary weapon of the Great Patriotic War - BM-13 "Katyusha" rocket launcher. The authors focus on analyzing the contribution of Voronezh defense enterprises into development, engineering and producing of such type of weapon. In particular, the paper considers the history of Voronezh plant named after Komintern, on the basis of which the assembling of the first launchers that acquired the legendary name "Katyusha" was carried out. The paper provides facts from the history of using new weapon at the fronts of the Great Patriotic War and emphasizes its importance in the Victory over fascist Germany.
