CULTURAL SAFETY VERSUS CULTURAL TRADITION

Abstract. The article considers examples of clash of different variants of interpreting the term "cultural safety". The author pays attention to the analysis of the notion of safety tracing the boundaries of this phenomenon in the modern world. By concrete examples the paper shows that yearning for defending and protecting culture does not always lead to desired consequences and can cause the opposite result. The paper also examines traditions that are potentially dangerous to people’s life and health.
