Abstract. The article examines a relevant problem of moral and philosophical issues in S. I. Taneyev’s choral creative work by the example of the composition "Music Suddenly Sounded from Eternity" (from the cycle "Twelve Choruses a cappella", Op. 27, words by Y. Polonsky, 1909). To discover the imaginative aspect of the composition the authors focus on interaction of literary and musical peculiarities. The paper is of interdisciplinary nature, it touches upon historical, philosophical and musicological problems.
