ADOLPH VON HENSELT: THE FORGOTTEN MUSICIAN-TEACHER

Skorbyashchenskaya Ol’ga Adol’fovna
Saint Petersburg Conservatory named after N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov

Abstract. The article is devoted to pedagogical activity of Adolph von Henselt, the famous German piano-virtuoso, who worked in St. Petersburg in 1838-1888 and became one of the founders of the Russian piano school of the XIX century. The author pays attention to description of pedagogical principles of Henselt and activity of his pupils. Henselt’s role was not in educating pianists-virtuosos - the main thing for him was to create the basis for future flourishing of piano pedagogy in Russia, in which he excelled.
