ROLE OF CALLIGRAPHY AND PAINTING IN NEW CHINESE MUSIC

Abstract. The article analyzes the interaction of calligraphy as an art with music while composing and performing. This problem is under study for the first time. The author reveals the reason for Chinese composers’ concern to express the ideas of traditional calligraphy and painting by musical language and focuses on the interaction of theatralization and the process of concert performance, the harmony of a visual image and music, ink density and musical texture.
