FORMATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF BALLET THEATRE IN AUSTRALIA

Vedernikova Margarita Andreevna
Moscow State Institute of Culture

Abstract. The article considers the contribution of Russian dancers and choreographers - the first wave emigrants - to the formation and development of Australian ballet. Despite the fact that since the 1990s domestic science has noted an increased interest in the study of Russian culture abroad, there are still a lot of "blind spaces" in the part related to the history of ballet. Among these spaces are the formation and development of ballet in Australia. An attempt of the author to systematize the data on the dancers and choreographers, who worked in Australia and were at the origins of the Australian school of classical dance, is presented.
