MYTHS OF SOCIAL VIRTUALITY AND THEIR INFLUENCE ON PUBLIC CONSCIOUSNESS OF VIRTUAL COMMUNITIES

Abstract. The article is devoted to the problem of the influence of the myths formed in the network space of social virtuality on the public consciousness of virtual communities. In the epoch of the accelerated development of virtual communities, a lot of new opportunities for the creation and propagation of myths appear in network society, they become virtual and manifest themselves more and more vividly as a new virtual mythology in the socio-political sphere, online advertising, branding and other forms of mass culture. The virtual myth in the space of network society is comprehended as a project activity on the formation of the global mythological idea, where a fact or an event (an image on the computer monitor) is substituted with the artefact that is an embodiment of the intention of the myth-maker, in which new social virtuality is manifested.
