Abstract. The article deals with the issues of the creation and formation of Azerbaijan opera, as well as the prospects for the development and improvement of European opera traditions in Azerbaijan music. The research method is associated with the analysis of both scientific and textual materials on the stated topic. At the beginning of the XX century Azerbaijan music began to develop in close synthesis with the Western European one without losing its folk roots at the same time. As a result, the opera music of Azerbaijan has become a harmonious and integral part of the world music culture.
