Forming Pupils’ Ethno-Cultural Competence by Means of Karachay-Circassia Visual Art

Abstract. The paper justifies the ethno-pedagogical potential of the Karachay-Circassia visual art when forming ethno-cultural competence in secondary school pupils in Karachay-Circassia. The article examines pedagogical conditions of pupils’ ethno-cultural competence formation, analyses content of the authorial program, presents results of a pedagogical experiment. The researcher reveals the pedagogical potential of regional visual art, identifies pedagogical methods and techniques promoting the formation of pupils’ ethno-cultural competence, and herein lies scientific originality of the study. The findings indicate that introducing regional visual art into educational process helps to raise pupils’ national consciousness, to evoke their interest in native culture, other people’s traditions, promotes the ability to exist harmoniously in the multiethnic society.
