Abstract. The problems of studying logical thinking and the visual image are examined in the context of the interiorization theory. Difference between the activity-based and operational approaches to studying cognition is identified. Essence of logical thinking is considered by the example of E. V. Ilyenkov’s conception based on Hegel’s pan-logic philosophy. The visual image is explained as a result of a subject’s sensorimotor activity associated with the object of cognition. The authors try to synthesize the nativist interpretation of the image as a result of a sensorimotor act. The conclusion is made that logical thinking and the visual image can be explained from the viewpoint of the operational approach.
