A. V. SAMONOV’S "PHANTASIES" (BASED ON A. SAINT-EXUP?RY’S NOVELLA "THE LITTLE PRINCE"): SPECIFIC FEATURES OF PIANO CYCLE

Abstract. The article analyses the "Phantasies" (based on A. Saint-Exup?ry’s novella "The Little Prince") - one of the key works of the pianist, composer and teacher, Professor of Moscow Conservatory Anatoly Vasilievich Samonov (1931-2013). For the first time in domestic musicology, the paper describes the history of this composition, reveals the author’s intention and identifies the features typical of romantic music. The researcher’s attention is focused on the problem of the cycle compositional integrity, which is achieved by different means, mostly by using leitmotif.
