THE CHINESE CHAMBER-VOCAL LYRICS IN HUANG ZI’S CREATIVE WORK

Abstract. The article analyses the chamber-vocal creative work of Huang Zi, one of the founders of the Chinese XX-century musical culture. His contribution to the development of vocal culture cannot be overestimated. The Chinese musicologists’ analysis of Huang Zi’s compositions was based on the methodology developed in the Russian musicology. Now it would be appropriate to consider the unique features of his style, which are not reduced to pentatonic scale and tonal peculiarities of the Chinese music but go beyond the suggested principles of analysis. The Chinese composer’s vocal opuses are characterized by refined correlation of meaningful and prosodic features of classical poetry and elements of the West European musical language. This skilful synthesis is waiting to be appreciated by musicians and admirers of vocal art.
