Archetypes Projections in the Texture of N. Medtner’s Piano Compositions

Abstract. The paper aims to identify mechanisms to form timbre character of piano texture in N. Medtner’s compositions, which are for the first time analysed in the aspect of figurative and archetypical integrity. To achieve this research objective, the author identifies internal form-generative intentions in C. Jung’s archetype theory, reveals the basic timber texture types largely determined by existential structures of the performer’s existence. For the first time in musicology, the synesthetic analysis method is applied to reveal deeper auditory-motor associations in the performer’s musical consciousness.
