Traditional Elements of the Modern Chinese Oil Painting

Abstract. The article analyses traditional elements of the modern Chinese oil painting, describes its modern state and possible development trends. The researcher’s attention is focused on such issues as representation of the Chinese philosophical conceptions in paintings, use of symbolic artistic techniques, depiction of natural beauty and use of the brush and ink technique. Prospects for further development of the Chinese oil painting are outlined in a way so as to reveal its national specificity and to raise the worldwide status.
