Monologue in Domestic Ballet Theater (the Second Half of the XX Century)

Abstract. The article examines the role and importance of choreographic monologue in its most mature forms developed by outstanding choreographers and artists in ballet theatre of the first and especially second half of the XX century. This problem has not been previously investigated in art criticism. Choreographic monologue is widely used in modern choreography, which seeks to reveal dramatic depths of the human’s inner world. Applying to creative heritage of the recent past allows identifying the factors promoting further psychologization of dance, choreographic implementation of the human’s internal conflicts, which contributes to the development of modern ballet theater.
