Harmonic Rhythm in the Piano Exercises in "Harmony" Course

Abstract. The article considers the problem of studying harmonic rhythm in the "Harmony" course. The author formulates a definition of the notion, which is based on the approaches developed by domestic and foreign musicologists. Relevance of the issue under consideration is emphasized. The paper provides examples of the piano exercises in the "Harmony" course (playing chord progressions according to the established harmonic rhythm, playing modulations). Analysing harmonic rhythm of the suggested exercises, students improve their piano playing skills.
