Abstract. The paper justifies the thesis that cognitive-pragmatic anthropological approach can be applied to analyze media products, in particular, video games. The article emphasizes two aspects of studying video games and player’s experience: narratological and ludological (E. Aarseth, J. Juul). Scientific originality of the research lies in the fact that relying on fundamental ludological works the authors propose the methodology to analyze media products and their anthropological models. As a result, it is shown that cognitive-pragmatic anthropological approach offers a new theoretical perspective for studying video games and allows a deeper analysis of player’s experience and the influence of media environment on his value and ethical attitudes.
