Abstract. The paper aims to search the philosophical definition of the notion "nature" in the Ancient Greece period through examination of the variants of its usage, as well as through the analysis of Ancient Greek and modern concepts, including philosophical ones related to this topic. The scientific originality of the research consists in specifically philosophical generalization of different cases of using the notion "nature" in the Ancient Greek times based on different sources. As a result, the author comes to the most collective meaning of the notion "nature" as a philosophical category, which does not belong to only one concept due to its breadth and which is open to idealistic and materialistic interpretation.
