Sustainable Development of Russia and the Malthusian Trap

Abstract. The study aims to consider dialectic of complexity characterising planetary development of sociotechnical existence. Scientific novelty of the study lies in applying the Malthusian trap to the post-industrial economy. The methodology of the article is determined by the need to take into account long technological economic cycles that are based on innovations and evolution of technology. The results of the study are as follows: 1) the authors note down how the humanity made the way from local civilisations to the global system of interpenetrating multi-level complexity, intertwined technologically, informationally and organisationally; 2) they outline a foresight of long energy cycles and the need for the state to plan for long-term post-carbon economic development.
