Abstract. The paper aims to describe Miaodigou painted pottery. As it is known, Miaodigou is a Golden Age of Yangshao culture, its flourishing period. The author reveals distinctive features of Yangshao pottery: typical colours, forms, ornaments. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the researcher analyzes specificity of Miaodigou painted pottery, a branch of Yangshao decorative and applied art. The findings are as follows: the author identifies and describes typical features of Miaodigou pottery, considers specific features of pottery items, examines their functional peculiarities associated with people’s everyday practices. The study of this interrelation helps to discover a unique culture.
