Аннотация.
В статье анализируются основные исторические исследования западных историков XX века, посвященные крестьянским движениям в России в период Гражданской войны. Выделяются главные хронологические этапы развития западной историографии по этой теме и обосновываются критерии их выделения. Особое внимание уделяется работам, внесшим заметный вклад в изучение крестьянских волнений в Тамбовской губернии в данный период. Анализируются системные достоинства и недостатки исследований западных историков.
