Abstract. In the article the attempt is undertaken to analyze the problem, which the director Anatolii Vasil'ev found in his own creative work at intuitive level: the problem of correlation between emotional experience theatre and performance theatre. The director’s aesthetic world does not and cannot coincide with the nature of psychological theatre as well as it does not coincide with live-action theatre. This is another artistically-poetic environment where the dominating role is played by the conception “school – laboratory – theatre”.
