Abstract. The article investigates the spectral characteristics of dielectric nanoparticles with metal shell. The calculation of scattering and absorption cross-sections is carried out within Mie theory framework with the use of Aden-Kerker solution. The conducted calculations of extinction cross-section for nanoparticles of silicon dioxode with silver shell indicate the possibility of changing plasmon resonance position in nanoparticle through changing its geometrical dimensions. Change in the thickness of nanoparticle metal shell has the greatest influence on spectral characteristics.
