DETERMINATION OF COLLISION IONIZATION COEFFICIENT WITH THE METHOD OF EXPERIMENTAL DATA APPROXIMATION BY THE EXAMPLE OF INERT GASES

Abstract.
The dependence of collision ionization coefficient on the local intensity of electric field in inert gases was researched. On the basis of experimental data by means of approximation the functional dependence for Townsend ionization coefficient is obtained. The comparison of the theoretical values of collision ionization coefficient, obtained on the basis of Townsend theory, with experiments results is conducted. It is proved that for inert gases the theoretical values of Townsend ionization coefficient in strong electric fields can be applied with sufficient accuracy.
