Abstract. The article discusses the results of the empirical study of clinical psychologists’ professional competence at the initial stage of work activity. It is shown that the process of mastering the obtained speciality is accompanied by the difficulties of the realization of graduates’ value expectations from professional activity and the professional and personal qualities of their immediate supervisor, as well as the problems related to the availability of necessary for effective work theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
