ONOMASTIC ORIENTALISMS IN A. S. PUSHKIN’S ESSAYS “A JOURNEY TO ERZURUM”

Abstract.
The article is devoted to the linguistic and historical interpretations of onomastic orientalisms in A. S. Pushkin’s travel essays “A Journey to Erzurum”. A. S. Pushkin introduces a lot of oriental names into the text, both anthroponyms and toponyms, to make his essays more documentary. The author singles out the anthroponyms derivated from the Arabic, Turkic and Persian languages, which play an important role in the formation of social status and national self-consciousness.
