REVOLUTIONARY COMMITTEES OF VORONEZH REGION IN THE CIVIL WAR

Abstract.
In the article the author considers how the Soviet government in order to stand up in the fight against internal counterrevolution, the White Army and the Entente countries replaced Soviets (Councils) by revolutionary committees (by analogy with Petrograd Military Revolutionary Committee, which seized power in October 1917 in Petrograd). The replacement of elected Soviets (Councils) by revolutionary committees that represented military and civil power at local level was the response of the Bolsheviks to the challenge of the hostile world. The conditions and peculiarities of the activity of revolutionary committees within the territory of Voronezh region, their role and importance in mobilizing the forces of the Bolsheviks are studied.
