Abstract.
In this article the author refers to the creative works of the Russian philosopher and art critic, one of the brightest representatives of the first wave of the Russian emigration, Vladimir Vasil’evich Weidlé. The paper analyzes a part of his creative heritage, which deals with views on culture in general and on the Russian culture in particular, as well as the crisis of culture in the XX century, the causes and consequences of this crisis. The characteristic of the main tendencies in the development of art of the XX century in V. V. Weidlé’s understanding is given.
