Abstract. The article reveals the essence of the ethno-metric direction of linguo-cultural researches focused on the quantitative measurement of the mental and linguistic characteristics of ethnic groups. The authors analyze the ways to describe the fundamental mental priorities of the representatives of certain ethnic groups aimed at the systematization of the data in the form of mathematical indicators. Due to the wide practical application of the principles of ethno-metric researches such quantitative analysis can be carried out in relation to the communicative peculiarities of verbal behavior determined by the place of a certain ethnic group on the “mental map” of the world. This approach significantly differs from the conventional qualitative analysis of the behavioral specificity of ethnic groups that is known for its frequent subjectivity.
