Abstract. The article analyzes the artistic-philosophical conception of the Russian national character, which is the main subject of E. I. Zamyatin’s creative research in a number of works of the so-called “Russian subject matter”. The gallery of the Russian characters, the unique identity of the Russian people are studied in the context of the moral-ethical, spiritual-aesthetic views of the Russian people reflected in their culture, especially in literature.
