Abstract.
This article discusses various peculiarities of the artistic realization of the phenomenon of madness in the Russian literature by the example of Leonid Nikolaevich Andreyev’s novel “Sashka Zhegulev”. The image of the madman in this work is related to the motive of the funeral rite, the space of forest, the phenomenon of feeble-mindedness and the motive of dualism. The category of name and onomastic pairs play a significant role in the realization of the theme of madness in the novel.
