ON THE TIME OF THE IONIAN LEAGUE REVIVAL IN THE CLASSICAL PERIOD

Abstract.
The paper aims to clarify on the time of the Ionian League revival in the classical period. The author argues that after the suppression of Ionic rebellion by the Persians in 494 B.C. this League was revived only about 373 B.C. as the association of exclusively religious nature. Most probably, the revived Ionian League not only existed for the rest of the IV century B.C. but, as it is known, functioned almost continuously for the subsequent centuries and ceased to exist only in the second half of the III century A.D.
