Abstract.
The article considers the classification of the forms of the state, in particular, the forms of government and the forms of political regimes. The author highlights the idea that the modern variety of the forms of the state requires the development of new classification systems. The paper sets the mismatch of the common at present classification of the form of government and the political reality of our time and claims that while creating new classification systems a form of political regime should be recognized as the basic form of the state.
