Abstract.
The article discusses the history of the formation of state social security bodies in Kabardino-Balkaria in the 20s of the XX century. On the basis of the analysis of archival documents introduced for scientific use for the first time the authors identify the peculiarities of the organization of the social security department, show the difficulties faced by the local party workers and present some of the results of their activity.
