ETHNO-CULTURAL IDENTIFICATION AS PROCESS OF INTEGRATION OF CHARACTERS-STUDENTS IN THE NOVEL BY D. I. STAKHEEV “STUDENTS”

Abstract. At the end of the XIX century a special place was given to the status of a student, and the student body composed an estate, which consequently formed into intelligentsia - the elite of the Russian society, but in literature students’ life was not touched upon fully. The paper considers the images of students in the novel “Students” by the little-studied writer of the second half of the XIX century D. I. Stakheev, the creative heir of F. M. Dostoevsky and L. N. Tolstoy. All the characters of the work are united by social modality (they are merchants), however psychological differences are absolutely obvious, that is why we present various kinds of students’ images: bohemian (K. Yastrebinsky), industrious (S. Golubev), harmonious (S. Kapustina) ones.
