Abstract.
The article deals with the peculiarities of the poetic manner of two works by A. N. Tolstoy of the 1920s, in particular, with the importance of the problem of doppelganger in them. In this regard, it is important to analyze how the writer worked with the ideas and images of works by F. M. Dostoyevsky, for example, with the heroes of “underground”. In A. N. Tolstoy’s “A Manuscript Found under the Bed” and “Ibikus” similar characters get historical conditionality.
