TEACHERSHIP AND HOUSING PROBLEM IN THE 1920-1930S

Abstract. The article is devoted to the issue of providing housing for Soviet teachers in the 1920-1930s. The illustrative examples of badly organized and poor nature of their lives are given. The activity of Soviet governmental and departmental power structures on the solution of teachers’ housing problem is shown. It is mentioned that the authority acted by directive methods both in the issue of establishing the obligatory title housing development plan of the People’s Commissariat of Education, and in its operational reduction and freezing of housing resources for teachers in the conditions of the changed priorities of domestic and foreign policy of the USSR.
