Abstract.
The article analyzes negative characters’ images in the novel “Alitet Goes to the Mountains” by T. Z. Semushkin, the artistic originality of which has hardly been studied in contemporary literary criticism. The issue of Alitet’s image prototypical character, and the ratio of realistic and romantic fundamentals in it is considered. For the first time in the analysis of the key negative figures of the work the significance of the literary tradition, plot and compositional elements, and the artistic detail is shown. The conclusion is made about artistic expressiveness of the negative characters’ images of the novel that conditioned its poetic originality.
